For the Kids
For the Cure!
On Friday, March 13th many students participated in the 2018 Mini THON. Most of you know what it is, but if you don’t, I will tell you. Mini THON, a smaller version of Penn State's THON, raises money for the non-profit organization Four Diamonds. All the money goes to fighting pediatric cancer. When THON started in 1977 they raised over $2,000. Since then THON has raised over $150 million. Mini THON since it started has raise over $6.46 million dollars towards childhood cancer.
Last year, our goal was to raise $15,000, we raised a little over $18,000. This year the goal was $20,000. We were able to raise a little over $20,000. Every year since we started we were able to reach our goals.
Each year we have many different activities to do while we are standing for kids who can’t. This year's activities included a dodgeball tournament, floor hockey tournament, volleyball tournament, hungry hippos, Zumba, kickboxing, board games, a Wii, the lip syncing battle, and many yard games.
Just think. You were up all night playing games and doing various activities. Why? I’ll tell you why. You care enough for the kids who aren’t as lucky as you and have cancer. They may not be able to run around and play like you can. That is why we THON. We stand for the kids who can’t.
I think we can all say this together. FTK FTC! For the Kids, For the Cure!
Here are some pictures of the activities that went on at mini THON
