Getting to know the minds behind Secrets: The Musical

James Bond or Hamilton: An American Musical? Great news, now you don't have to make

that decision anymore. Secrets: The Musical is an in the works musical that is about a recent MIT grad named Chris Hawkins. The opening song falls upon Chris writing for a job at the CIA and is filled with witty remarks and relatable commentary. The two masterminds behind the show are Noah Meaux, the writer of the book, and Daniel Ruffing, the composer. Both are freshman at Baldwin Wallace University and are astonished as they are watching the fast moving fame their show has received. The pair met while working on another musical and when that project they began working on SECRETS this November. They were “writing music and we made the song fly. I (Noah) immediately thought of a spy…” A couple of Broadway accounts gave SECRETS a shoutout and soon a cult like following began to adore the duo and their musical. Daniel and Noah were both nice enough to talk to me and answer some questions about their life and the show!

When asked what the hardest thing about writing the show was, Daniel said, “It’s writing

songs that have a “Broadway” feel to them.” Wanting to make sure it fits the genre but still has its own feel is something that fans are definitely seeing from the songs they have heard so far.

As for the rapid increase in fame, Noah said “Oh my god it’s so surreal. I never thought one of my shows would blow up like this!” With fans making shirts, memes, and accounts all dedicated to the show it is amazing the boys were able to keep their heads on. As for Daniel he said, “I never expected people to like me,” with which Noah responded with, “Daniel you’re my spirit animal.” Yes, the interview was hilarious because the two were so funny together!

The pair have a few secret projects in the works but they are focussing a lot on SECRETS right now. They hope to be done with the show by the end of the year and then be in the workshopping phase.

Even though Noah and Daniel are so young, they gave so pretty incredible advice. Noah said, “Be yourself and do what you like. Don’t spend time worrying about what other people say or do.” Daniel believed that sticking to your goals despite the fact that peopl

e are dragging you down is the key to your success!

If you like musicals, or you just want to check this, out I HIGHLY recommend. The music is amazing and these two are both very funny and were incredible to talk to. Their Instagram where I got all their pictures from are down below.
