Most people love to see the musicals put on by the school. They love to see all the actors on the stage singing and dancing. But you don’t always hear what the actors experience is while doing the production.
On March 8th, 9th, and 10th Greenwood High School put on a production called “Godspell” written by John Michael-Tebelak and Stephen Schwartz. It is a musical based on the Gospel of Saint Matthew. The main character is Jesus, played by Greenwood student Brooke Rumberger, teaches the 12 disciples (Montana Farner, Laura Sheaffer, Renee Dubaich, Thomas Strong, Faith Polcha, Gracie Roush, Melissa Ulanowski, Seth Heaster, Jake Barton, Mia Davis, Nicole Hostler, Miranda Keister) parables from the gospel of Saint Matthew.
I had the pleasure of interviewing Montana Farner and Laura Sheaffer. They were two out of the five seniors that have completed their last production for Greenwood High School. Montana played the character Celiesse and Laura played the character Georgia. The following will be the questions I asked them and their answers.
Question 1: If you could change your character to any other character, who would it be?
Laura: “I would want to be Morgan. She’s very sassy.
Montana: “For sure Morgan because I’m obsessed with “Turn back O’ Man”. It's literally the most fun song of the whole show.
Question 2: Being seniors, what part of being in musicals will you miss the most?
Laura: “I w
ill miss getti
ng to play a completely different person, growing closer to everyone in the cast, and of course endless coffee at Buffalo Brew.
Montana: “I’ll definitely miss going to Buffalo Brew with some of the cast before our long practices, then ‘Hamilton’ on the ride to practices.”
Question 3: What was your favorite musical that you were a part of?
Laura: “My favorite musical was probably ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’.
Montana: “Definitely ‘Godspell’ or ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie'.
Question 4: Do you have an
y acting plans for the future? If not, what are your future plans?
Laura: “I don’t plan on doing theater, but I am hoping to dance at Millersville!”
Montana: “I’m planning on doing theater in college, so I’m definitely very excited to branch out and do that!”
Question 5: What advice can you give to the
students that are interested or already planning on being a part of Greenwood musicals?
Laura: “They really are so much fun & you won’t regret your time on that stage with the friends you make.
Montana: “Just go for it. You may not get every single role you dream of, but it’s all about the memories you make in that auditor
ium with your cast. It’s truly something special.
I want to personally thank Laura and Montana for letting me interview them. The show this year is sure to be a hit between all the amazing actors, beautiful set, and the spectacular lights. Oh, and you can’t forget the chocolate bars.
So, as you can see, if you weren’t able to go to the show, you missed lots of fun, comedy, acting, music, and most importantly, the
Chocolate Bars!
