Even if you don’t know what it’s called, you’ve most likely watched the Color Guard, whether at Greenwood or a football game. A Color Guard performs with either flags, wooden rifles, or sabers. Greenwood only has flags and wooden rifles.
The current Color Guard consists of five members. Our seniors Summer Gill and Maddie Young, and our juniors Arykah Hahn, Hannah Morrison, and Jordyn Turnbaugh.
The Color Guard is looking for new members but understandably people aren’t quite sure what to expect. Color Guard has once a week practice where we create and learn new routines for parades and other events. No experience is needed to join; we will teach you everything you’ll need to know. We do perform at both Memorial Day events in Liverpool and Millerstown, PECO fair, Greenwood Night, the Homecoming Pep rally, the Homecoming Game, Liverpool’s Halloween parade, and the Veterans Day parade. It’s a very short list of events spread out over the year with part of summer and winter/musical season in between Color Guard season.
Greenwood isn’t a large school, but while you might know a lot of people here, you might not know the Color Guard Squad very well. So to change that, I asked the members to answer a few Color Guard related questions so you can get to know them better.
