Teacher Appreciation: Messages of Thanks to the Greenwood Staff

Reflecting on this school year, “even from six feet apart, you teach with all your heart” couldn’t describe our Greenwood teachers and staff any better. Throughout the pandemic, they have shown up everyday for their students, and have provided the best school year possible. To show our appreciation, here are some messages from the student body!

Siera Clegg- “Thank you for working as hard as you did during this pandemic. We appreciate you!”

Riley Danko- “Through the past 180 days of battling adversity and the unknown, I’ve never been so grateful for a group of teachers and administrators so understanding and ready to jump into action. I feel very blessed to be a part of Greenwood because of their endless efforts to give us opportunities so many of us missed out on last year and even this year. Although as a student body we might fall short in recognizing and honoring the tiring efforts of those behind the scenes, we are extremely grateful to have such caring individuals in our lives. So, if nothing else, take it from me. We appreciate you all so much and would not have been able to make it through this roller coaster ride without each and every one of you. We appreciate your open hearts, minds, and ears everyday as we entered your classroom in hopes of normalcy. You are so special to Greenwood, and we hope you feel all of our love and appreciation.”

Anonymous- “Greenwood teachers, thank you for always helping me when I need it. From math problems to English essays, you’ve always been around. The support I’ve received from everyone of you has been 100% appreciated and will be remembered throughout my life. Thank you!”

Lia Zurenko- “Thank you to my teachers for making this year fun, even with all the bad stuff going on in the world right now. And a special thanks to Mrs. Nastasi for teaching Shakespeare in a way that was entertaining, enjoyable, and made me excited for class everyday. Not every English teacher can do that, and I am very grateful!!”

Rocky Shuler- “I’d like to show appreciation specifically to my present and past English teachers-Mrs. Nastasi, Mrs. Miller, Mrs. Campbell, and even Mr. Nastasi from what seems like an eternity ago. You four are genuinely the most compassionate, helpful, and inspiring teachers I’ve ever had and your assignments always challenged my passion for creative writing in many different ways. I’m not sure if all English teachers have this same general vibe, but I’ve always felt understood around you, especially this year. Whether you realize it or not, each of you has done or said something that made my day, no matter how small the action was. Thank you for pushing me to keep pursuing writing and always seeing my authentic self :)”

Anonymous- “Mrs. Miller is one of the hardest working teachers I’ve ever met, and always makes sure her classes are enjoyable for her students. In yearbook, she helps the staff to understand real-world issues, prepares them for future career paths, and teaches them how to better themselves. For any student, she makes sure their needs are taken care of; academically and mentally. Besides, she made sure prom was a success this year even with COVID-19 impairing it!! So thank you, Mrs. Miller, for better preparing all of us for anything that might come our way.”

Anonymous- “I’d like to give a special shoutout to Dr. Guarente! All of us would not be where we are today without all of his hard work and dedication. All that he does goes beyond his office, and the time he gives is so appreciated. Thank you for all you do, especially this year as we deal with the pandemic. You are appreciated by us all!!”

This year may not have been easy, but with the support of all of Greenwood’s teachers and staff it was made possible. Thank you to each and every one of you for all you have done this school year. We appreciate all that you have done to make this year as normal as possible, despite all the abnormalities and unknowns. Greenwood is so lucky to have you, and the impact you have made on our lives will stay with us forever!
