Thanksgiving Sports Update

It has been yet another incredible month in the world of sports. We have new World Series champions, more NFL news and updates. As well as quite the start to the NBA season.

Today we are gonna start off with the climactic finale to quite the long baseball season as your hometeam Phillies were defeated in 6 games by the very controversial Houston Astros. The Houston Astros are very well known for their sign stealing scandal which appeared just a few seasons ago. The Phillies were the first team of the entire playoffs to win 2 games on the Astros. At the end of the day the season for the Phillies ended due to an inability to hit the baseball on the extremely deep bullpen and talented starting pitching lineup of the Astros. The Astros were able to prevent players such as Bryce Harper, and Rhys Hoskins from efficient batting throughout the series. Bryce Harper who was on a rampage throughout the post season just couldn't connect in the final 2 games of the series to close out the Phillies season. After stealing game one on the road the Phillies were only able to win 1 of 3 games at home and ended up losing the series in Houston on game 6. Handing historic playoff choker pitcher Justin Verlander his first World Series win of his long career. Another big headline coming from the world series is the fact that Jeremy Pena became the 1st ever rookie position player to win the MVP. He batted a crazy .400 average in the world series! It seemed as if every time he was up at the plate he was gonna get on base. This MLB season was an interesting one nobody truly expected the Phillies to make it as far as they did, but the 2022 season will always be known as the Astros season.

The next thing I want to talk about briefly is the NFL trade deadline. What faces are on what new teams, as well as my top 10 teams of this month. The 1st big trade I wanna touch on is Bradley Chubb making his way to Miami to play with the Dolphins. The Dolphins traded Chase Edmonds, a 2023 1st round pick, and a 2024 4th round pick. They also received a 2025 5th round pick with Chubb. This is a big trade because we know what the Dolphins can do offensively but this adds to what should be a stacked defense, with now having one of the best defensive lineman in the league on their squad. The next trade made that has some real implications is Chase Claypool. The Steelers young wideout was traded to the Bears in exchange for a 2nd round draft pick in 2023. This came a bit as a surprise as there really were no rumors surrounding a possible trade. He is though a young talented wideout who should help the Bears build around Justin Fields. We also saw

the Bears trade maybe the best linebacker in the NFL in Roquan Smith to the Ravens which came as a surprise. Especially considering the trade did not involve a 1st round pick for the young linebacker, it simply replaced the 2nd round pick which they lost from trading for Claypool. The 2 other big trades that made waves around the league was Tj Hockenson going from the Lions to a division rival Vikings. This rarely happens, a team trading a young up and coming Tight End to a division rival. The Lions are in a clear rebuild. Lastly, star Tailback Christian Mccaffery is now a member of the 49ers going back to where he went to college in California. He was traded for an assortment of 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th round picks. He was on a contract year and the Panthers were in no position to pay the man, so the trade seemed inevitable. This propels the 49ers forward as one of the best teams in the NFC. Now let's take a look at my November top 10 teams post trade deadline.

1 Chiefs

2 Eagles

3 Vikings

4 Dolphins

5 Bills

6 49ers

7 Ravens

8 Bengals

9 Seahawks

10 Cowboys

Now before you get all upset about your favorite team not being top 10, let me explain to you my picks. As per usual I will put them in tiers or small groups that I think is closest to there teams abilities. I think that the Sehawks, Cowboys, and Bengals are all very similar teams. Now the Seahawks may be a bit of a Cinderella story but they win football games. They have been solid and Coach Pete Carrol may be making a case for Coach of the Year. The Cowboys have maybe the best defense in the league but their inconsistent offense prevents them from being higher. The Bengals have all of the tools to be top 5. They just can't seem to put it together week in and week out so their inconsistency leaves them at #8. The next tier is 7, 6, 5. The Ravens, 49ers, and Bills. The Ravens have shown flashes of being legit superbowl contenders but have given up multiple 10 point 2nd half leads which remains a concern for the playoffs. The 49ers really need to get healthy as they have been extremely injured all season. The addition of Mccaffery at the deadline makes them a better team and as they continue getting healthy they continue to improve. The Bills are so good. Their biggest strength is also their biggest weakness. Josh Allen is their whole team. If you can

neutralize him they have nothing left. That lack of versatility leaves them at 5. Now the top 4 teams are all 1 tier. You have the 2 best teams from each conference. The #4 Dolphins and the #1 Chiefs as well as the #2 Eagles and the #3 Vikings. The Eagles blew the doors off the Vikings 24-7 on Monday night but the Vikings haven't lost since. The Vikings have also beaten other elite teams such as the Bills since then. The Eagles win over them gives the Eagles the slight #1 edge. The Dolphins offense has been so good, Tyreek Hill and Jalen Waddle have been out of this world. I just don't see a world where Tua can keep up with Pat Mahomes for 4 quarters. The Chiefs are the team I trust the most in the biggest moments which is why the Chiefs are my #1 team.

The last thing I want to talk about in November is the start to the NBA season. The season just started so there is not way too much to talk about but I still wanna talk about the little things that have happened. There have been lots of trade rumors surrounding the Lakers after a horrible 3-10 start to the season. Could we see Anthony Davis on the move? Your hometown 76ers have been battling sickness and injury so far but remain locked at 7-7 keeping them in the playoff race in the Eastern conference. Lamelo Ball is finally coming back from injury and is ready to start his season. The league has been very weird vast far only 15 games into an 82 game season. We see teams like the Trailblazers leading in the

Western conference. Kyrie Irving is out at least for a while due to the anti semetic comments he made a few weeks back. This season has had quite the bit of drama and we aren't even a month in yet. I will be excited to see what happens to this league in December.

Thats it though for this month folks. I am so excited to see what happens next month in the NFL and NBA, we may even see some NHL reports coming through the works. We will see you again in December and Happy Thanksgiving.
